    Alert Percent Variables addition

    Idea:

In the WUG alerts there are percent variables to deal with either up or down statuses. When an alert fires off it will send out a message. For example when a port goes down on a switch we get a list of the downed interface or interfaces and a list of all up interfaces and when the port comes back up we get a list of all interfaces. To me that seams like alot of useless information. I would like to propose a new percent variable that lists only the previous down monitor so the alert is easier to read.

    More Details:

Here is an example of an alert we get when an interface goes down.

    Interface(88) GigabitEthernet8/16 is Down at least 2 min on Switch: 10.41.254.5 (10.41.254.5).

    Details:

Monitors that are down include: Interface(88) GigabitEthernet8/16

        Monitors that are up include: Interface(1) GigabitEthernet4/1,Interface(2) GigabitEthernet4/2,Interface(3) GigabitEthernet4/3,Interface(4) GigabitEthernet4/4,Interface(5) GigabitEthernet4/5,Interface(6) GigabitEthernet4/6,Interface(25) GigabitEthernet7/1,Interface(26) GigabitEthernet7/2,Interface(27) ***** Link to DC1,Interface(38) GigabitEthernet7/14,Interface(39) GigabitEthernet7/15,Interface(40) GigabitEthernet7/16,Interface(41) GigabitEthernet7/17,Interface(42) GigabitEthernet7/18,Interface(43) GigabitEthernet7/19,Interface(44) ***** ESX08 NIC1,Interface(45) GigabitEthernet7/21,Interface(46) GigabitEthernet7/22,Interface(47) GigabitEthernet7/23,Interface(61) ***** ESX01 NIC0,Interface(62) ***** ESX02 NIC0,Interface(63) GigabitEthernet7/39,Interface(64) ***** ESX02 NIC1,Interface(65) ***** ESX01 NIC1,Interface(66) GigabitEthernet7/42,Interface(67) GigabitEthernet7/43,Interface(68) GigabitEthernet7/44,Interface(69) GigabitEthernet7/45,Interface(73) GigabitEthernet8/1,Interface

      Hi,

I realize that in order to pair the Down-> Up alert, it's better to associate the Action Policy directly to the Active Monitor Name.

The device Action Policy is good only when it's the only one Active Monitor in the device.

Below is the sample alert template I use for Down/Up pairing.

      %Device.DisplayName (%Device.Address) - %ActiveMonitor.Name [ %ActiveMonitor.Comment] is %ActiveMonitor.State, at %System.Time on %System.Date

      Thanks.
